Home care is in the chopping block, but in-home caregivers, care recipients, and community allies have all been working to protect frail seniors and people with serious disabilities from deep budget cuts this year.
Now, caregivers have developed a solution that could save home care. It’s called the “In-Home Supportive Service Stabilization Act.” It could bring in $180-200 million more for home care in California.
Be a part of the solution: Take Action now!
Email Governor Schwarzenegger and Your State Reps. Tell them to support the act!

Back in November the social worker in Kauai called my husband and told him his dad was not doing well.
He was not eating, drinking water, or living. They could have sent him to a hospice, but instead my husband had them send him to our home in Lancaster, CA. [click to continue…]
I am currently employed by In-home Supportive Services. I take care of my mother and grandmother, and with the way the economy and job market is at it’s current state, without IHSS I don’t know how I would have made it through these tough times. [click to continue…]

I am an IHSS provider and have been for almost 2 years. The elderly woman I get paid for taking care of, it would be devastating to imagine her without any help. Terminating this program would be detrimental to our elders who are without family and without sufficient funds to pay for help.
